She wants to put on makeup.
- 2008/05/16(Fri) -
My daughter, who is 4 years old, is really interested in makeup. When I put on my makeup in front of the mirror, she leans over to me and stares at "her Mom in the mirror."

Yesterday morning, as usual, she watched me putting on makeup. She held up a powder puff and asked, "Can I use this one?" "Sure, go ahead," said I, and then she started to powder her face with the puff. She kept powdering & powdering. She seemed to enjoy it. Maybe she felt as if she is an adult.

She wanted to put on red lipstick (口紅). But I didn't let her use it. She sometimes sucks her thumb when she is sleepy. So if she puts rouge on her lips, her thumb might get red and her outfit might get dirty with rouge. It's so hard to remove rouge from clothes, you know.

"You are a kindergartener. So you can't wear red lipstick. If you want to put on something on your lips... How about this?" I showed her a transparent & colorless chapstick (リップクリーム).
"Oh, I love that!" she said, and she started to use that chapstick. She put so much chapstick on her lips that her lips shone too brilliantly.
"Do I look pretty?" she asked. "You're so beautiful like a princess!", I answered.
She looked so satisfied with my answer. She kept watching herself in the mirror for a while.

She is so young that her skin is very smooth & clear. Her cheeks feel like marshmallow. When I look at her face, I automatically touch her cheeks and brush my cheek with hers. So soft & comfortable...

She doesn't have to put on makeup at all, but she really wants to. On the other hand, considering my age, I HAVE TO put on makeup especially when I go out. But truth be told, I don't like makeup. I sometimes want to wash my face with cold water, which really refreshes me. But if I wear makeup, I can't wash my face. I hate that.

I envy the smoothness of her skin very much. It's good to be young... and when I look at myself in the mirror... sigh...

I have two daughters,too.
My oldest daughter become 4 years old.

-How cute it is!-
Hello.
your daughter is so cute, and what a cute story you wrote! Yes, children's skin is very smooth & clear, so I share your feelings. Actually I touch my daughter's cheeks every day. :-)
Anyway, you have a good skill of English and your blog is excellent! I really admire you.
Have great weekends with your lovely daughter.
See you.

-Hiya,-
My best moment of a day is when I cleanse my make-up and wash my face... I feel so refreshed.
I can't go out without make-up now. Because if I do so, I feel as if I was walking naked!
I can't remember when I started feeling so.
Anyway I envy people who are beautiful without make-up... hmmmm... I envy children....

-How cute!-
Hi, dear. My name is morningtea. I found your blog through a blog-ranking site. I also write an English blog. Yours is really easy to read. I will come again.
Your daughter sounds like so cute, doen't she? Every young girl loves and is really interested in cosmetics, I suppose.

Well, may I link to your blog?

-Hi, Karen!-
What a lovely story! Little girls are curious about their mother's cosmetics. Your story reminded me of my childhood. I sometimes wore my mother's lipstick and eye shadow behind her back :)
I like reading your blog. I can picture your stories even though there's no picture on your blog. Your daughter is so cute!!
I admire your English, too.

Your daughter is also 4 years old. We have a lot in common, don't we?
My daughter likes Precure, too! The program is so popular with young girls.

I'm so happy to read your Japanese comment. Thank you so much!

Your best moment of a day is ... Oh, I really understand your feelings. And 'walking naked' is certainly an apt expression. That's good!

Yes, every young girl is interested in cosmetics. When I was a little girl, I also tried to put on makeup.

You can link to my blog, of course. I feel so honored.

You wore even eye shadow? That's great & lovely. I'd like to see your pretty face of that age!

And thank you for your compliment. Your kind words always encourage me greatly.

Thank you for leaving wonderful comments here & there.

I heard that Japanese women tend to use too much makeup and many western women don't wear any makeup. I think Japanese ladies should be proud of their own beauty. It's bad to rely on makeup this much, right?
I have to rethink about my makeup. (lol)
